Salt Air 5K

This morning Brant and Anthony ran in the 5K out at the Great Salt Lake. It was a beautiful day for a run even though it was a bit chilly. They both did awesome. There were some hard core runners there today so unfortunately they didn't place in their age groups but both had personal records on their times. Brant came in at 20:07 which equaled a 6:29 minute/mile pace. He was 7th in his age group (25-29 yrs old) and 26th overall. Anth was 20:39 which equaled a 6:40 minute/mile pace. He was 5th in his age group (30-34 yrs old) and 39th overall. The top runners in both of their age groups were in the 16 and 17 minute range - Holy Schnikes!! The overall winner came in at 15:40!!!! Barely over 5 minutes per mile! It was amazing. This is a 3 part race. In 2 weeks there is a 10K (Unfortunately Brant has an accounting final so he has to miss the second race) And then in two more weeks there is a 15K. We had a fun time hanging out watching the guys and drinking hot chocolate after! Dad Gary and Preston were able to make it and it was great to have them there. Brant always amazes me at how well he does without training. He is planning to train before the 15K - 9 miles is a little far without any training, so hopefully he will be able to squeeze some runs in between school, seminary and work this next few weeks.

Brant and Anthony getting ready for the race- They almost look like twinners :)

On your Mark, Get Set, GO!

Brant coming across the finish - He had just punched it to beat the guy behind him and was in a "little bit" of pain - eeks!

Anthony coming across the finish line!

Chilling with Dad and Pres after the race in the Salt Air Castle.
Boston finally gave in to that sleepy bug - It was so cold even in the building and after a nice warm bottle he was tuckered out!
